Wildlife

A lot of scaremongering goes on about Aussie wildlife - we do have ten of the top twenty most venomous snakes in the world, pleanty of deadly spiders and then there is the sharks and crocs. However if you are sensible and follow basic rules you will not have any worries.

Wildlife Safety tips

  • Never put your hands where you cannot see. Spiders and snakes love dark hidey holes.
  • Leave them alone. For most of them you are too big for food and they will only strike out at you for defence.
  • When bushwalking make some noise and stamp your feet- unless you want to see these creatures.
  • Dont swim at night
  • Swim between the flags on patrolled beaches
  • Dont swim in unknown waterholes and in rivers in the north
